Event & Trip Costs

Monthly Trips

Troop 3’s policy is that we operate by the Patrol method whenever possible. This means that the Patrol will develop their own menus and buy their own food for the trip. The Troop normally has the Patrols charge a standard weekend food fee, although this can change if the Patrol decides to have a special meal which costs a bit more on a particular trip. There is a fuel cost for which leaders / parents are reimbursed if they transport scouts on the trip. Usually there are no other costs associated with a normal trips though certain trips may have special fees or charges. (Examples: a trip to a State Park may require a $3-5 fee for the cost of the state camping fee.) Scholarship funds (“Camperships”) are available; these are requested in the notes section when registering for a trip. I follow up conversation with the Scoutmaster is required for approval.

Summer Camp

Usually $300.00ish (but sometimes higher) depending upon the summer camp location and type. Generally summer camp fees are payable in two or three installments prior to the camp. Camperships (scholarships) may be applied for via MTCBSA. Also the Scout can earn money toward his Scout account with participation in Troop fund-raisers.

Winter Camp

Usually $200.00ish, generally winter camp fees are payable in two or three installments prior to the camp. Camperships (scholarships) may be applied for via MTCBSA. Also the Scout can earn money toward his Scout account with participation in Troop fund-raisers.

High Adventure Trips

Costs are usually $500.00 to $2000.o0+ (for older (13+) Scouts only). Scouts are expected to earn moneys toward their Scout account with participation in Troop fund-raisers. While the Troop does HATs every year, we also offer a regular summer camp experience that year to accommodate those scouts who cannot participate in the high adventure program.
